Three-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1835, cylindrical cooler with semi-rounded rim, applied tab handles, and large circular bunghole, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant on the front and reverse. Heavy cobalt highlight to surface of bunghole. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals, a curved line of cobalt underneath each handle, and a series of graduate swags below. Excellent form and color. A particularly early example of Baltimore clover decoration. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Excellent overall condition with shallow chipping to inner edge of bunghole. H 13 5/8".
