Shenandoah Valley Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG", VA origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with heavily-coggled rim, the surface decorated with streaked manganese over cream-colored slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Heavy iron-oxide flecks throughout glaze. Lightly-impressed at the shoulder with "S. BELL & SON" maker's mark. Very nice condition with some wear to rim and a small chip to underside at edge. Glazed surface survivies in remarkable condition. H 9 1/2".
