Scarce Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder, wide mouth, and applied strap handle, the shoulder and handle decorated with cobalt sponging over whitish slip. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark at shoulder. A rim chip and a few minor rim nicks, one of which is glazed over. H 8 1/2".
