Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. WEAVER", Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, large-sized, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly-brushed design of a wavy vine bearing swags and six tulips Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent size and decoration. Shallow chipping to end of one handle. A small chip to opposite handle. Two chips to shoulder molding. A 1 1/4" surface chip near base on reverse. Light wear to surface.
