Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Stamped "P. CROSS / HARTFORD", Connecticut origin, circa 1806-1808, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower blossom featuring overlapping petals. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Desirable, early Connecticut maker. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A 4 1/2" hairline from base on reverse. Heavy chipping to base. Surface wear around midsection.
