Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "BRADY & RYAN / ELLENVILLE. N.Y.", circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken with spotted accents, pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Minor wear to one handle. Some spots of staining to side and reverse. A minor chip on interior of rim. A 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge. A 2" in-the-firing surface line on reverse, not visible on interior.
