Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO. / PA.", circa 1875, ovoid, double-handled jug form featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling surrounded by freehand swags, stripes, stenciled floral motifs, and a stenciled "5" with flourishes at shoulder. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Missing one handle. Spout chips. Heavy crazing to surface. An in-the-firing chip to reverse.
