Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Cooler Chicken Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, large-sized jug-form cooler with open handles and circular bunghole, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken standing atop a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent size and form with good decoration. Essentially as-made condition with fry to cobalt and a minor glazed-over chip to bunghole. H 20".
