Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA", New York State origin, circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a "running" bird with fan-shaped tail atop a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Handles perforated to allow for a wire bail handle. Significant restoration to reverse. Restoration to rim. Several hairlines to rim area and body. Some spots of fry to cobalt.
