Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.", circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a crested bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a stylized vine. A 1" chip to interior of rim on reverse. A minor nick to exterior of rim. A thin 1 7/8" crack from rim on front. Some minor staining around base. A minor in-the-firing iron ping to reverse.
