One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt tulip. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and maker's mark. Includes original salt-glazed lid. Jar with rim chip, heavy in-the-firing chipping to base, a small in-the-firing iron ping to front, and small chips to inner rim for lid. Lid in excellent, essentially as-made condition.
