Exceptional One-Gallon Slip-Decorated Redware Jug with Manganese Urn Decoration, probably New York State, circa 1850-1880, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded spout, and ribbed handle. Surface covered in a heavy cream-colored glaze and decorated with a highly-unusual manganese urn motif below a brushed number 1. Base chips. A few minor flakes to surface. A 2 1/2" area of faint crazing to base, probably in-the-firing. H 10".
