Rare Cold-Painted Redware Umbrella Stand, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder and flaring to rim and base, the surface covered in reddish paint with darker dashes throughout. Underside impressed with John Bell maker's mark. A difficult-to-find Bell form. Two large rim chips covered in paint indicate the painted decoration on this piece was likely applied some time after the vessel was made. A 1 3/8" base chip and two other chips to underside at edge. H 22 7/8".
