Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, probably Connecticut origin, circa 1820, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and flared rim with inner rim for lid, the front decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a drooping flower. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A very large sealed U-shaped crack on right side indicates this jar was broken into two pieces and reglued. Additional lines to base area. A 2 1/4" in-the-firing flake to body. Rim chips. A chip to one handle. Chipping to base, most of which is glazed-over.
