Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD. / BURLINGTON, VT.", circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed flowering vine design with curled stamens. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Chips to interior of rim and inner rim, which would hold a lid. A chip and nick to left handle. A chip to right handle. An in-the-firing raised spot to clay at shoulder on front.
