Unusual One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "FRANK B. NORTON / WORCESTER MASS", circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring a boldly-slip-trailed foliate design accented with dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A thin 3" crack from rim on reverse. Shallow chipping along top of rim on reverse. A minor nick to one handle. Some small surface flakes to shoulder on front. A 1" flake to shoulder on reverse. A semi-circular surface line on underside, not visible on interior, which was most likely created during the firing.
