Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Peacock Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR. TROY", New York State origin, circa 1840, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a peacock with turned head, ornate crest, and long tail, perched on a stylized branch, flanked by flourishes. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Several long cracks from rim. Losses to one handle, some of which is glazed-over. Rim chips. A small in-the-firing chip to shoulder on front. Shallow chips to underside.
