Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & Co / ROCHESTER. NY.", circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant bearing a daisy and tulip with spotted center. Slip-trailed cobalt number 3 above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent decoration, maker, and color. Two large in-the-firing flakes to bottom edge, measuring 3" and 1 3/4". A tiny nick to interior of rim. Some light staining. Some light wear to cobalt.
