Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SIPE NICHOLS & CO. / Williamsport, Pa", circa 1875, ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a two large stylized tulips emanating from a central stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent size, appealing decoration, and strong color. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 3" area of in-the-firing chipping to base on reverse, noticeable when the jug is turned over.
