Two One-Gallon Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "BROWN & BROS / HUNTINGTON. L.I", New York State origin, circa 1863-1870, both of ovoid form with tooled shoulders and applied lug handles, each decorated with a brushed tulip above a series of swags. Cobalt highlights to maker's marks. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. One with large restored body flake on reverse, some restoration to handle, and a 2" restored area to rim. Other with restored crack from rim on reverse, an unrestored crack from rim on front, some restoration to base, and a raised bottom, which keeps the jar from sitting flat.
