One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA", New York State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a stylized slip-trailed design of a bird with turned head, perched on a stump. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Two in-the-firing contact marks to front, some minor wear to surface, and some light spots of staining.
