Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER / ROCHESTER, N.Y.", circa 1855, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a flower with heavily-striped blossom and petals. Slip-trailed number 2 at shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Short hairlines to spout area. Some bubbling to cobalt on edges of petals and leaves. In-the-firing separations on underside. A small in-the-firing chip to reverse.
