Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "R.T. WILLIAMS / MANUFACTURER / NEW GENEVA, / PA.", circa 1885, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring R.T. Williams maker's stenciling, a freehand stripe at the rim and base, and a script number 2 flanked by dashes at the base. A 1 1/4" chip to side of rim. A 1 1/2" hairline from rim on reverse, adjacent to a 1/2" crack with small sliver missing. Splattered bits of clay to reverse, created when a piece exploded during the firing.
