Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, semi-ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a flowering vine bearing daisy and fan-shaped blossoms. Appealing spotted details to blossoms. Excellent color with thick, vibrant cobalt. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity. Excellent overall condition. A short hairline at base on front, a tiny iron ping and short in-the-firing line below decoration, and some light wear to cobalt.
