Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with "SHIP & CABIN STORES" Advertising, attributed to the Hudson River Pottery, Manhattan, NY, circa 1845, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising "HARRY-R-MILLER/ SHIP & CABIN STORES / 179 SOUTH ST NY". Decorated below with a brushed and slip-trailed tulip design including spotted leaves. A 1" rim chip on reverse and a minor semi-circular line at rim on reverse. A 1/2" chip on interior of rim and a few other minor chips on interior of rim. Typical light wear and nicks to inner rim where a lid would rest. A dry spot to front at base of decoration.
