Possibly Unique Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Rhinoceros Head Decoration, Stamped "F. WOODWORTH / BURLINGTON, VT", circa 1885, cylindrical churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a cobalt design of a rhinoceros head with long horn and stylized details to neck. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Three restored cracks to front, two of which extend through decoration. A restored crack extending from rim to shoulder on reverse. A 2 3/4" hairline from rim on left side of churn. A 1" rim chip on left side of churn. A small rim chip to reverse. Typical wear to inner rim where a lid would rest.
