One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Very nice condition with a small, shallow chip to handle and a small in-the-firing ping to base on reverse.
