Rare Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "D.M. BAKER'S POTTERY. / WAYNESBORO, PA", circa 1875, bowl-shaped jar with tooled shoulder and distinctive tapered rim, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze over a mottled orange-and-green ground. Impressed with Daniel M. Baker maker's mark at shoulder. The majority of known signed Baker pieces exist in the form of simple redware jars with unglazed exteriors. All other signed forms are considered unusual. Heavy wear and roughness to top of rim. A minor chip to bottom edge of rim. A small, shallow base chip. H 4 1/4" ; Diameter (across top) 5 3/4".
