Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER & / G. GOETZMAN / ROCHESTER. NY", circa 1855, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy plant with heavily-shaded petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "2" above. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Faint, approximately 4 1/2" spider line on reverse, not visible on interior. Some shallow chipping and wear to inner rim where a lid would rest. A small chip to one handle. A minor nick to opposite handle. Some light wear to cobalt.
