Fine Glazed Redware Jar, Eastern U.S. origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, flattened rim and distinctive ribbed strap handles, the surface decorated with heavy streaks of manganese over a mottled olive ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. A 1 1/4" base chip and a small base chip. Scratches and wear around midsection to lead glaze. Light wear and some tiny nicks along edges of handles. Wear to interior and exterior of rim, including some small chips. A Y-shaped hairline on underside, which continues onto base and forms a second Y there. H 8 3/4".
