Outstanding Slip-Decorated Redware Charger, probably Norwalk, CT, circa 1820-1840, with coggled edge, the interior decorated in yellow slip with large looping lines interspersed with wavy stripes, the interiors of the loops accented with foliate motifs. Additional haphazard spot decoration to one end. Excellent size and striking design. Rim chips. Some typical surface wear to interior. Remarkably, the slip decoration and glazed interior surface survive without a single flake. Diameter 14 1/4".
