Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A.E. SMITH & SONS / MANUFACTURERS / 38 Peck Slip, N.Y.", circa 1853, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an unusual brushed flowering plant design featuring heavy spotting throughout. Two brushed cobalt "5"'s to shoulder. Some fry to cobalt. A few base chips. Otherwise excellent condition.
