One-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Date "1862", Inscribed "One", New Jersey origin, 1862, ovoid jar with tooled rim and applied lug handles, decorated with the slip-trailed date "1862", underscored with graduated stripes. Reverse inscribed "one" with wreath-like slip-trailing below. A glazed-over 1 1/2" line at base, continuing a short distance onto underside. Two short hairlines from rim on side of jar, above one handle. A tiny hairline from rim on opposite side of jar. A few chips on interior of rim.
