Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Geometric Cobalt Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with an abstract brushed and slip-trailed design featuring spotted crosses and curved trails accented with spots. Brushed freehand "5" at shoulder. Includes 19th century wooden dasher and wooden lid. Some surface wear to front along base of decoration. Small chips to inner rim where a lid would rest.
