Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Folky Cobalt Diving Fish Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a heavily-spotted fish diving into a body of stylized water composed of wavy and dashed strokes. Decorated below the rim with a slip-trailed "4" surrounded by flourishes. Appealing subject matter. Excellent condition with some staining.
