Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Richmond, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared rim, and rounded lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a large brushed tulip extending across the shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition. A few rim chips, a few small, shallow base chips, and some light surface wear to midsection.
