Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a large sweeping stem bearing fan-shaped flowers. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Two adjacent reglued pieces at rim, measuring a total of 6 1/2" x 1/2". Rim chips. A 4" in-the-firing separation descending from rim on, 1" of which is visible on exterior. Two other short, minor hairlines to rim area. An approximately 10 1/4" Y-shaped hairline extending up from base on one side. Some staining.
