Outstanding Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H. MYERS", attributed to Henry Remmey, Sr. at Henry Myers' Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with footed base, tall, flaring collar, and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a boldly-brushed stem bearing graduated leaves and large flower blossoms. Vertical cobalt stripe decoration under each handle. Heavy cobalt highlights to tops of handles and terminals. A wonderful example of early Baltimore or Remmey stoneware with excellent decoration, color, and form. Very nice overall condition with only minor flaws. Some surface lines on interior, not visible on exterior and probably in-the-firing. An in-the-firing Y-shaped surface line on underside, not visible on interior and probably in-the-firing. A long glazed-over dent to edge of right handle, which also occurred in the firing. Two small rim chips and several tiny rim nicks. Two in-the-firing vertical lines at base, measuring 3" and 2 1/2", which continue 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" onto underside. These lines are glazed over, and only partially visible on interior.
