Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO. PA.", circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with applied handle and tooling to shoulder and spout, the front decorated with Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling within a foliate banner. Brushed cobalt stripes to shoulder and base. Stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. Handle with horizontal hairline, salt drip, and small in-the-firing contact mark. Small chips to spout. In-the-firing stone ping to shoulder.
