Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Grapes Decoration, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooling to shoulder and spout, the front featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling with an intricate stenciled grape vine design at the center. An unusual stenciled motif for this maker. Restored handle. Some additional restoration to base and spout. Tight 5 1/2" vertical line ascending from base on reverse.
