Two Pieces of Northeastern U.S. Stoneware, second half 19th century, a three-gallon jug with cobalt floral decoration, stamped "C DOHERTY / 324 NORTH ST. / BOSTON", attributed to Somerset Potters Works, Somerset, MA; paired with a three-gallon jar with cobalt floral decoration, stamped "ADAM CAIRE / PO'KEEPSIE NY" on one side, and on the reverse with early advertising for Macy's of New York City, stamped "R.H. MACY & CO. / 14th St. & 6th AVE / NEW YORK". Jug with drilled lamp wire hole at base on reverse, spout chips, a glazed-over iron ping to front, and short hairline to lower handle terminal. Jar in excellent condition with a handle chip and some typical wear to inner rim.
