Rare Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Cobalt Urn and Wreath Decoration, Stamped "SOMERSET POTTERS WORKS", Somerset, MA, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a stenciled design of an open-handled urn with diamond-patterned interior, flanked by a wreath. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. This crock is the first example by Somerset Potters Works we have offered bearing this stenciled design. 8" sealed and colored crack from rim on front, not touching cobalt. Restoration to rim. Minor wear to ends of handles.
