Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Rose Decoration, Stamped "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and rounded "wax sealer" rim, the front featuring a stenciled rose blossom below Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling. Cobalt stripes at shoulder. Thin 4 1/4" crack from rim. A long in-the-firing contact mark on each side. Tiny chips to interior of rim. Wear and small chips to base. H 8 1/8".
