Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, New Geneva, PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a series of straight and wavy freehand stripes, the base with a freehand "6" flanked by dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Long spidering hairline on reverse, extending several inches onto underside. Some staining. Faint 6" inverted Y-shaped hairline from rim on left side of front. An additional faint 6" hairline to right side of jar's front. A chip to end of one handle and a nick to opposite end of same handle. Some fry to cobalt.
