Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Rockbridge County, VA origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and flattened tab handles, decorated with a stylized flower blossom on the front and reverse. Loss to one handle. Minor nick to opposite handle. Thin top-to-bottom spider crack from rim on one side. Tight surface line in underside, possibly in-the-firing. A 1 3/4" rim chip, a 1 1/4" rim chip, and a minor rim nick. A small, shallow base chip and other minor base wear. Some staining.
