Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," New York State origin, circa 1845, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a large tulip with spotted leaves. Brushed "2" to left of flower. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Large restoration to rim on right side and reverse. Restoration to back end of right handle. A rim chip. A few small spots of fry to cobalt. Typical light wear to inner rim where a lid would rest.
