Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Vertical Handles and Cobalt "Fish Scale" Decoration, Cheesequake, NJ or Manhattan, NY origin, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and small vertically-oriented loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an early-style "fish scale", "grape cluster", or drape decoration. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent form and wonderful size. Numerous tiny to small rim chips. Two glazed-over base nicks. Some wear to decoration on one side. Stone ping on opposite side. H 7 1/4".
