Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt 1834 Date, Stamped "CLARK & FOX / ATHENS / N.Y.," 1834, ovoid jug with tapered spout and applied ribbed handle, decorated with the boldly-brushed date, 1834, extending across the shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and lower handle terminal. Excellent color. Very nice condition with some staining and a few small chips to edge of handle.
