Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of eight grapes hanging from a stem, flanked by a looping vine and a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Restoration to rim. A few shallow chips on interior of rim, two minor nicks to rim on reverse, and wear to inner rim ledge. A shallow chip and light wear to one handle. Some faint crazing to underside, not visible on interior. Some surface wear to decoration.
