Three-Gallon Brown-Glazed Southern Stoneware Churn, Stamped "O. Henry Pottery / Valdese, NC," circa 1937-1951, semi-ovoid churn with flared collar and applied strap handle, the surface covered in a mottled reddish-brown glaze. The mark "O. Henry" was named after the pen name of North Carolina author, William Sydney Porter. The primary potter at this operation was Evan Javan Brown. Very nice condition with one rim chip and minor wear on interior of rim where a lid would rest. H 13".
